Motorola's successful Motoblur software for its cell phones is going to make its way to TV, and now the hardware manufacturer is talking about bringing that same technology to TV sets. Co-CEO of Motorola Sanjay Jha is going to spearhead a new ambition to bring the company's phone and TV divisions closer together, according to a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. Motorola is already testing Motoblur on TV sets, and says they are working hard to bring that to the market later this year.
Motoblur is an innovating software app that allows users to view and track their friends through a variety of mobile communication and social network integration. In fact, Motoblur has received such a warm reception that Jha says he thinks Motorola could invent their own OS.
"If I had more money for R&D, I'd be developing an operating platform," said Jha in the interview.
It gives an insight into recent rumblings at the company that perhaps Motorola will step away from Android, the OS behind its currently-most-touted phone, the Droid. When discussing Windows Phone 7 and whether or not Motorola would incorporate it, Jha said, "I'm open to it. I think I need diversity in our portfolio"
